The Shoes That Won Last Night: Nats Smack Phillies

Last night, the Washington Nationals bounced back from Friday's loss to Philadelphia with a 11-0 shutout at home. This win keeps the Nats atop of the NL East, while the Phillies continue to cling to the bottom, behind 11.5 games. The Nats got going early, piling up all 11 of their runs by the end of the fourth inning and managing to hold off Philadelphia for the duration. Third baseman Anthony Rendon was responsible for the bulk of Washington's scoring, racking up four RBIS and two runs as he went 3-5 from the plate. It was Rendon who drove in the first run of the night, followed by a three-run homer in the second to set the tone for the National's dominant W. On the mound, Jordan Zimmermann stood tall for the Nats over 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits and striking out 8 batters to record the 50th win of his career.

Less than 10 miles north of Nationals Park, the Citi Open men's field was narrowed down to two, with Milos Raonic and the red-hot Vasek Pospisil set to meet in the finals, which will go down today at noon. Catch Raonic and Pospisil's semifinal winning kicks, plus the best of last night's MLB cleats and the current leader of the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational, all after the break.
