Historic brand Spalding is seeking to gain recognition for more than just their classic leather basketballs. Last year, they debuted the Splash, and now they are back for the 2012-13 NBA season. The Spalding Threat is a midcut shoe perfect for guards and small forwards.

Featuring a breathable, seamless synthetic and mesh upper, it seems Spalding has followed in the footsteps of their competition, aiming to create a sneaker that will perform among the rest of the league's top shoes. The midsole includes EVA technology and D30 cushioning, as well as a midfoot shank and a rubber outsole designed to be especially durable.

The Threat is now available in five different colorways; black based uppers with silver, navy, royal, and yellow accents, respectively. Also included in the release are a signature colorway for guard Jimmy Fredette of the Sacramento Kings. Decked out in purple and black, you can see the Jimmer Threat on the courts now.

Find it at Eastbay for $94.99 today.
