After defeating Serena Williams in one of the biggest upsets of women’s singles competition, Sabine Lisicki is showing no signs of slowing down on her Wimbledon journey. Earlier today, Lisicki faced Kaia Kanepi and had little trouble emerging with a 6-3, 6-3 win. “I was ready today. I knew from the past, out of experience, that I needed to make the switch quickly to be ready, and that’s what I did,” Lisicki told the Associated Press.
The 23-year-old German star has now advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals for the second time in three years, and next she’ll meet Agnieszka Radwanska, who has been on quite a roll of her own lately. Radwanska’s quarterfinal match against Li Na took over three-and-a-half hours to complete, so it will be interesting to see if fatigue is a factor in her semifinals showdown with Lisicki.
