It’s been thirty years since France has had a homegrown male player raise the Roland Garros trophy, but the wait may finally be over.
On Tuesday, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga pulled off a surprising upset at the 2013 French Open, as he defeated the great Roger Federer in straight sets (7-5, 6-3, 6-3). Laced up in a pair of his go-to adidas adiZero Feather 2.0 sneakers, Tsonga made quick work of the world No. 2 ranked player, beating him in less than two hours. The Frenchman showed impressive footwork, utilizing the shoe’s flat Adiwear outsole as he slid into his strokes with confidence.
The win marks the first time Tsonga has reached the final four at Roland Garros. Up next is a semi-final showdown against Spain’s David Ferrer.
