With July winding down and August approaching fast, the smell of college pigskin is virtually in the air. Today we get a preview of the footwear that the Stanford Cardinal will wear both on and off the field, as the David Shaw-led squad will look to repeat as Pac-12 champ.
A team official recently posted via Instagram an image of the Nike Alpha Pro D cleats in a special Cardinal Red/White markup, along with the Nike Free Trainer 5.0 in an all-black colorway.
This is likely just a small sample of Stanford’s 2013 footwear collection, as we expect to see a few other Nike cleats incorporated into the lineup depending on player position. Though, the Alpha Pro has quickly built up a reputation for hanging with the best. As for their off-the-field shoes, the team will be in good hands with the Nike Free Trainer 5.0. One of the latest trainers from the Swoosh, the Free 5.0 features a unique Chinese finger trap-inspired design for a supportive, lockdown fit.
