The world “revolutionary” gets thrown around pretty loosely in the performance sneaker game, and usually without any merit. But when you’re talking about a legendary collection like the Nike Air Max series, there’s truly no better word to describe it other than, well, revolutionary.

A running sneaker that first came to life in 1987 (in the form of the Air Max 1) is still going strong nearly 25 years later as we anticipate the release of the 2013 version of the popular shoe. Getting back to its roots as a running-first sneaker, the Air Max+ 2013 has been reengineered and reconstructed to get the most out of the shoe using some of the most advanced performance technology available today, in order to make one hell of a running sneaker. In the Air Max+ 2013, you’ll notice a redesigned full-length Max Air unit that is lighter and more flexible than the previous.

A Nike Hyperfuse construction gives the sneaker a lighter, more breathable upper, while still retaining the extraordinary comfort that we’ve become familiar with over the years. And of course no modern Nike shoe would be complete without the addition of Flywire technology, which bring support and security to your feet. With all the makings of an instant hit, the Air Max+ 2013 could just be the best one yet (from a performance standpoint anyway).

The Air Max+ 2013 will be available beginning January 2013 at Nike.
