The Yankees are back and firing from all cylinders. The Yankees, for a little while, have been trying to get their feet back under them and play in top form. Now that we are in the month of September, they are in attempts to gain ground on the playoff hunt.

The New York Yankees took in the Chicago White Sox and were looking to sweep last night. The Yankees went ahead early, going up 5-1 in the fourth inning. However, moving towards the eighth inning, The Sox gained some ground cutting the New York lead to one. Manager Joe Girardi brought out his closing pitcher Mariano Rivera to seal the victory and keep the Sox contained, winning 6-5 and leaving with a sweep. "There are some situations that I have to do it. Tonight was one of those nights," Rivera said. "We had a lead and had to hold it. We need to do whatever it takes. Two outs, three outs, four outs -- whatever it takes."

Mariano Rivera aka the Closer wore the Nike Cooperstown spikes to keep the game away from the Sox. Rivera has worn these cleats since 1995. The cleats represent his straight forward approach on the mound. Embroidered on the tongue is his number ‘42’. ‘PHIL 4:13’ is also embroidered on the side to represent his faith. It’ll be hard for you to find these for they were a one of one specially designed for Rivera.

The race for the AL wild-card spot has become a real test for the Yanks but they are ready to return to the top spot. Yanks were swept in Chicago early last month and now have returned the favor. Keep it here at Sneaker Report for more from the MLB
