While New Yorkers have always laid the claim that their region produces the best basketball players on the planet, when it comes to the collegiate landscape their best school doesn’t reside in the five boroughs. (Sorry St. John’s.) Nope, the best college basketball program in the Empire State resides up north in Syracuse, where the same-named Syracuse University program reigns supreme.
10 years ago, a famous braid-wearing freshman from Baltimore (kinda New York though?) showed up on campus and brought the first national championship to the campus of Syracuse, thus solidifying the Orange’s place amongst the top programs in the country.
