In the WNBA, despite all the great players, it’s rare at times to see players go on crazy scoring runs. Riquna Williams set a brand new record last night when the Tulsa Shock took on the San Antonio Silver Stars.
Riquna Williams scored a record setting 51 points to help the Shock top the Silver Stars 98-65. The second year guard surpassed the previous record of 47 points set by Phoenix’s Diana Taurasi on August 10, 2006 against Houston and later matched on July 24, 2007 by Seattle’s Lauren Jackson. Williams was 17 for 28 on the floor and hit eight 3-pointers. She had 20 points in the third quarter after having 16 in the first half. The Silver Stars couldn’t match Tulsa’s scoring flurry and was outscored San Antonio 59-22 in the second half.
