Under Armour is on a mission to provide athletes across all sports with perfect fitting footwear. After tackling the issue of fit in the running category with the SpeedForm, UA is now turning its attention to the hardwood with the all-new Micro G Anatomix Spawn basketball shoe.

Earlier in August, Sneaker Report got a chance to sit down with Under Armour Designer Ross Klein to get an inside look at the Anatomix Spawn. Designed to be a complete extension of the foot, the Anatomix Spawn features a system of interwoven layers of “flexgear,” which work together to support the tendons, ligaments, and muscles of the foot.

The shoe comes loaded with a full-length Micro G midsole for lightweight and responsive cushioning, as well as a molded sockliner for a custom fit. The shoe’s TPU shank extends from the forefoot to the heel, and even wraps around the lateral side to help reduce the risk of ankle rolls.

Things can heat up quickly on the basketball court, so UA has made the upper on the Anatomix Spawn incredibly breathable with special exposed mesh windows that allow air to flow in and out. For traction, the shoe features strategically placed traction pods with a herringbone pattern to allow players to change directions quickly.

The UA Micro G Anatomix Spawn was expected to drop on September 1, 2013. Though, it looks like Under Armour has rolled out the shoe a few days early, and it’s completely fine by us.
