Nike invited Sneaker Report to the Liberty National Golf Course in New Jersey to unveil their latest innovation, Vapor irons. From Complex HQ to cab to ferry to shuttle to sushi bar to the driving range, the team was ready to see some golf gawds by the time the sun went down. We were not disappointed as 14-time major champion Tiger Woods, 4-time major champ Rory Ilroy and Jimmy Fallon took the Swoosh encrusted stage.
They were there to introduce Nike's latest golf innovation, as the leader of revolutionary products, the Vapor irons focus on efficiency. This stems through all their sporting apparel and equipment, and today, we get a look at Nike's Vapor franchise, reimagined golf irons to help elevate athlete performance.
The Vapor irons were crafted by Nike's master club builder, Mike Taylor, and feature their latest innovative design, Modern Muscle. Modern Muscle is a modification of a standard muscle-back design that moves the iron’s center of gravity to the center of the club face, crafted to yield more efficient and pure strikes, and have already led to a major championship victory when Rory McIlroy used the clubs during the 2014 Open Championship. Nike took insight from both Tiger and Rory during the process of crafting the Vapor collection to build them to their exact specifications and golfer needs.
“We started with the traditional blade and asked what could be done to enhance its performance and modernize the design while maintaining a traditional, pure look at address. Thanks to Tiger’s inspiration, coupled with Rory’s added insights, we made the Vapor Pro blades feel and perform better with a technology advantage over the traditional blade. We then extended that innovation and design to Vapor Pro Combo and Vapor Speed.”
The Vapor irons will be available beginning October 31, at the Nike Store and select golf retailers.
