The 2013 NFL season officially kicks off this Thursday night, but on this day in 2000, the season was already underway. On the second day of action, the St. Louis Rams hosted the Denver Broncos in a high-scoring 41-36 win.

Along the way, St. Louis was powered mostly by the outstanding throwing of Kurt Warner, who had led the Rams to the Super Bowl championship and won the MVP honors just months prior. Warner let loose, throwing 25-35 for a total of 441 yards, averaging 12.6 yards per pass. He finished the game with three touchdowns, and the only downside of the night was that he also threw three interceptions. On the rushing side, St. Louis' Marshall Faulk put up 78 yards on 14 attempts and added 100 receiving yards as the Rams powered to a tough win.

During this period, turf fields were still common in the league, and Warner was known for wearing the Nike Zoom Jet Turf. Also made popular by players like Brett Favre and Barry Sanders, the Zoom Turf Jet enjoyed a long run on the gridiron with a multi-year presence. The Zoom Air-cushioned model which boasts supportive lockdown and a nubbed outsole suitable for the turf was recently re-released in a colorway similar to what Warner wore during 2000.
