With 22 Grand Slam titles to her name, tennis legend Steffi Graf is widely regarded as one of the greatest females to ever play the game. In fact, many of her records and stats trump both male and female players. She was ranked as the World No. 1 player for a total of 377 weeks overall, spending more time at the top than any other player. Graf also holds the distinction of being the only player of either gender to win all four Grand Slam tournaments at least four times, which is a testament to her versatility and ability to adapt to any court surface.
Graf's most successful year on the courts was 1988, where she won all four Grand Slam titles in a single year and also took home and Olympic Gold Medal. From there, Graf showed no signs of slowing down, tearing her way through opponents and dominating Grand Slams for years to come. During this period, she was especially successful on the grass courts of Wimbledon, taking home the women's title again in '89 and then winning three in a row in '91, '92, and '93. Graf suffered and injury in 1994 but came back strong with Wimbledon wins again in '95 and '96 for a total of seven women's singles championships on London's grass.
On July 4, 1992, while fireworks were being set off across the pond, Steffi Graf faced Monica Seles in the finals, hoping to repeat as champion. As two of the top performers of the era in women's tennis, the two had already developed quite a heated rivalry. They'd previously faced off in a number of Grand Slam finals, trading wins back and forth. But at Wimbledon '92, it was all Steffi, as she ousted Seles with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Despite her husband Andre Agassi's brief stint with adidas, he spent the majority of his career with Nike. But Graf was true loyalist to the Three Stripes, wearing adidas throughout her entire professional run. For Wimbledon 1992, she wore the signature adidas S Graf Pro C model.
