Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, is continuing their celebration of the iconic sidestripe in a special way this summer. To honor the legacy started back in 1978, Vans is offering a special look back at the history of the Sk8-Hi, as well as an extended offering of the iconic shoe, marking the largest range of Sk8-Hi colorways to date.

First introduced as the Style 38 back in 1978, the Sk8-Hi was the seconds Vans silhouette to feature the sidestripe and it quickly transformed skateboarding and BMX functionality. The high ankle design allowed riders to protect their ankles unlike other shoes on the market, and before you knew it became a staple in the skate and biking community. The Sk8-Hi not only changed action sports, but it crossed over to everyday wear and was eventually seen as a footwear icon in the world of art, fashion and street culture.

For the Fall, Vans honors the heritage of the sidestipe by rolling out the most Sk8-Hi colorways to date. On the men's side, Vans revisited the classics with new variations of the the ‘70s-inspired Golden Coast color-ups and the Van Doren Sk8-Hi, all which feature upgraded wax canvas, abrasion-resistant XTuff and suede editions. Other classics were reissued including the Vans x Star Wars collection alongside a premium floral rendition of the Vans x Liberty Art Fabrics collection. For the women, Vans modified the Sk8-Hi making it slimmer and putting fashion at the forefront with the new Sk8-Hi Slim, Sk8-Hi Slim Zip, and Sk8-Hi Platform.
