As far as entertaining NBA games go, the National TV, matinee game between rivals New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets was not that. The Knicks were blown out on their floor 103-80 in a sleeper, but one positive that came out of this was the shoes. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. day and Black History Month, many new releases of BHM colorways came into the fold. Numerous players had on special colorways for this game.

Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds in his Jordan Melo M10's and Tyson Chandler of the Knicks was wearing the Nike Hyperdunk 2013 model. On the Nets side, Deron Williams had a BHM model of the Nike Zoom HyperRev, Paul Pierce wore a BHM colorway of the Nike Air Legacy 3, Mirza Teletovic wore the Nike Zoom KD VI "BHM" and Andray Blatche wore the Nike Zoom Crusader while scoring 19 points and collecting 12 rebounds.
