Budding superstar point guard Damian Lillard is set to become a free agent this summer. On the sneaker market that is. Lillard will opt out of his contract with adidas likely setting off a bidding war among the top sneaker companies.
Lillard's star power is rising at the right time as he was recently named an All-Star after being awarded the Rookie of the Year last season. The sneaker industry is in need of a fresh face and Lillard is a very qualified candidate to fill that role.
Lillard is able to opt out of his contract because of his immediate success on the court. An incentive clause in his deal with adidas states that he can opt out of his current deal and renegotiate a more lucrative deal with the company or leave for another brand. Let the bidding begin.
