How Has the John Wall Signature Era Been, So Far?

It's a good time to be John Wall right now. In averaging 17.2 PPG with a league-leading 10.3 assists, the All-Star point guard has guided the Washington Wizards to 22-11 record, making them a legitimate contender in a weak Eastern Conference. If that wasn't enough, Wall even got his own rap song named after him by D.C. rapper Shy Glizzy featuring Lil Mouse. But what we're really here to talk about today is his signature sneaker run, so far.

Upon initially entering the NBA out of Kentucky, Wall signed a sneaker deal with Reebok. His relationship with the brand would eventually sour, though, causing the Kentucky product to jump ship to adidas. On October 31, 2014, adidas released Wall's first ever signature sneaker just as the NBA season was tipping off. Since then, Wall's on-court play has been stellar and we've seen a number of colorways of his signature shoes drop. Perhaps the most notable signature sneaker moment for Wall came on Christmas Day when the Wizards took on the Knick at Madison Square Garden, aka "The World's Most Famous Arena." We aren't talking about the punch-ish thing he took from Quincy Acy, rather we're talking about the green sneakers he donned as part of adidas "Bad Dreams" holiday collection. While wearing the festive sneakers, Wall dropped a ho-hum 24 points dishing out 11 dimes in the mecca of basketball.

Today, we are getting a new "Alternate" colorway of the adidas J Wall 1 annd it may be the point guard's best release yet. As you can see in the gallery above, the sneaker's uppers seems to be made of a different material than previous J Wall 1 entries. In fact, the perforated mesh looks like a lot like the material adidas uses on the authentic NBA jerseys. Rounding out the shoe is a camouflage-like middle with accents of red throughout. Other than the Christmas Day release, this one is probably our favorite J Wall 1 yet.

With Damian Lillard set to be unveiled as the next adidas signature star in the coming weeks, he can only hope that his signature era rolls out as smoothly as Wall's. Like Wall's Wizards, the Trail Blazers are amongst the top of their conference, meaning the D Lillard 1 should see plenty of clutch minutes down the stretch, as well.

Check out the adidas J Wall 1 "Alternate" in the gallery above and keep it with Sneaker Report for any news regarding the shoe's release date.
