M11

Jordan Brand officially unveiled the initial four launch colorways of the Melo M11 tonight at the Jumpman's Terminal 23 in the Big Apple. With New York city as its muse, each colorway of Carmelo Anthony's eleventh signature shoe has been inspired by part of his journey to the NBA.

You may remember a slimmer Carmelo emerging from offseason workouts this past summer. Well just like its signature star, the Melo M11 is back with a sleeker, more sophisticated design this time around. From a tech standpoint, the sneaker's highlight lies in Jordan's reengineered Flight Plate.  An updated foam heel counter integrates into the midsole in order to bring strength and support to the collar, while also taking on the a distinctive pattern formed by the repetition of the letter M.

As for colorways, the Melo M11 will launch in four initial versions, each of which are inspired by New York. The "Concrete Island" uses gray forefoot to represent the concrete streets of New York while bright detailing on the tongue is meant to evoke the graffiti and street art of the Big Apple. The "Jordan Family" colorway uses both black and red, calling to mind the great rivalry between Michael Jordan and the Knicks back in the '90s. Like its name suggests, "Red Hook Sunsets," was inspired by the sunset in Red Hook, Brooklyn, the place where Melo was proudly born. Finally, rounding out the launch colorways is the "Black/Gold," which Jordan fans will have a hand in naming. Beginning at 7 pm EST tonight, fans can vote on the colorway's name on Carmleo's twitter account @carmeloanthony. The results will be posted laster in the week on both Carmelo and Jordan Brand's Twitter accounts.

Take a look at the launch colorways of the Melo M11 in the gallery above and pick up a pair when they drop on January 3. Beginning tonight, fans can preorder the Melo M11 over at Jordan.
