What a way to kick off (no pun intended) the New Year. Some of the year’s biggest bowl games went down yesterday, including the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl between UCF and Baylor (pictured) and the Rose Bowl between the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the country. Whether you were nursing a NYE hangover or just looking to bring in 2014 with some pigskin, there were plenty of reasons to stay on the couch and catch yesterday’s action.
In the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, UFC and Baylor went all out, putting up major numbers as the No. 15 Knights dealt the No. 6 Bears a 52-42 upset. We gotta admit that we didn’t see that one coming. Earlier in the day, the Rose Bowl was decided as No. 4 Michigan State dropped No. 5 Stanford 24-20. The Outback Bowl was also noteworthy, as No. 16 LSU had to grind it out to beat Iowa 21-14. Catch all of these games and more after the jump.
That’s not all though, there was also some thrilling action on the hardwood last night. The duo of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul came together big for the Clippers in a 112-85 thrashing of Charlotte, and Toronto’s Kyle Lowry continued to impress with 13 points and 14 in assists in the Raptors’ win over Indiana.
