Player: Ricky Rubio
Game: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Boston Celtics

Ricky Rubio came into the NBA during a lockout season, and his sophomore season started off with Rubio dealing with a torn ACL suffered during his rookie season. This is the first season where Rubio is coming with a completely clean slate and a chance to improve. If the Wolves are going to be a playoff team, Rubio will have to continue to develop his game. Rubio had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists for the Wolves in their preseason 104-89 victory over the Boston Celtics. Rubio's a wizard with the ball and with a healthy Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic, Rubio should rack up assists on a regular basis all while wearing his adidas adiZero Crazylight's.

Player: Matt Ryan
Game: Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This season has been a disappointing seasons for the Atlanta Falcons. There were already doubts about whether Matt Ryan is an elite level quarterback based on his history of lackluster playoff performances. With the Falcons missing top targets Julio Jones and Roddy White as well as running back Steven Jackson, the honus was on Ryan to lead the Falcons to a win. Even though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are winless this season, they're still competitive and gave Atlanta a fight in this game. Ryan threw for 273 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Falcons were able to hold off the Bucs 31-23 pushing their record to 2-5.

Player: Andros Townsend
Game: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Aston Villa

When you get paid the big bucks, you have to perform and prove your worth relative to a team's investment. Andros Townsend signed a £2 million annual deal at Tottenham earlier this week which is more than eight times his previous salary. Townsend stepped up in Tottenham's 2-0 victory over Aston Villa with a goal in the 31st minute of the contest. Townsend's goal was based off a sliver of luck as he found room on the right side and clipped in a cross which was intended for Lewis Holtby and Roberto Soldado to attack from the other side. The ball ended up bouncing past goalie Brad Guzan for the score. The Nike Mercurial Vapor IX wins again.

Player: Jordan Reed
Game: Washington Redskins vs. Chicago Bears

The Washington Redskins are looking to keep their hopes alive and they should feel good considering they defeated the Chicago Bears 45-41. Jordan Reed came through with a great performance of 9 receptions, 134 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown catch. Reed's lone touchdown catch gave the Redskins a 24-17 touchdown heading into Halftime. This might be the breakout game for the 'Skins as they try to get back in the pathetic NFC East that features three out of four teams with under .500 records.

Player: Jerryd Bayless
Game: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Atlanta Hawks

If the Memphis Grizzlies are going to repeat their success as an elite NBA team last year, their offense will need to take off. Part of that solution involves their sixth man Jerryd Bayless. Bayless offers some punch offensively that the team lacks when using starting guard Tony Allen in the lineup. In the Grizzlies' 90-82 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, Bayless had 22 points in just 24 minutes. That offensive explosion can be attributed to Bayless going 6-for-6 from the three-point line in his adidas adiPure Crazyghost sneakers which screams perfection. If Bayless plays like this during the regular season, he might make an early case for sixth man of the year.

Player: Chris Ivory
Game: New York Jets vs. New England Patriots

The New York Jets won their overtime game over the Patriots due to a huge mistake made by Patriots rookie Chris Jones. Referee Jerome Booger explained it:

Jones was called for pushing his teammate "into the opponents' formation." Umpire Tony Michalek threw his flag "almost instantaneously as he observed the action," Boger said. "We just enforced it as he called it."

While the Jets might've won on what could be called a technicality of a rule, it's not like they didn't play well enough to win the game. Running back Chris Ivory had his best game as a Jet with 104 yards on 34 carries in the 30-27 Jets victory.
