The MLB playoffs just heated up with some riveting pitching performances. It seems like baseball becomes simply a pitching duel during the playoffs. John Lackey and Justin Verlander battled in a close 1-0 win by the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the ALCS. In the NLCS, the Cardinals had some clutch hitting from Matt Holliday and Matt Carpenter to take a 3-1 series lead against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite the low offensive numbers, the games still seem to draw interest for how great the pitching has been.

The NBA season is coming very close and today featured a great matchup of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors in Beijing. The Warriors won the game 100-95 behind 31 points from David Lee and 24 points from Stephen Curry. The Grizzlies won a close 102-99 contest over the Milwaukee Bucks behind a masterful jack of all trades performance from Marc Gasol. Here are The Shoes That Won Last Night.

Babies do bring good luck. They even help in professional sports. Robert Snodgrass got Scotland off to a good start when he scored a goal at 28' for Scotland in their World Cup qualifying match against Croatia. Snodgrass celebrated the arrival of his newborn child by leading Scotland on their way to an impressive 2-0 victory over Croatia. Snodgrass only joined his teammates on Sunday after attending the birth of his daughter Leonie. It's such a quick turnaround, but Snodgrass bounced back with the help of his Nike Hypervenom Phantom's.

Player: Marc Gasol
Game: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Quality centers are hard to find in the NBA. Marc Gasol is beyod quality. The Grizzlies center is pretty much elite at his position in all facets of the game. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year had a nice floor game in the Grizzlies' 102-99 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. He contributied 18 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal in the victory. As long as Gasol is healthy, the Grizzlies will be a tough out in the playoffs this season.

Player: Bradley Beal
Game: Washington Wizards vs. Miami Heat

The combination of Bradley Beal and John Wall has to be one of the best young backcourts in the NBA by far. Beal lit up the Miami Heat for 29 points in Preseason action last night. The Washington Wizards shooting guard shot 4-for-8 from the three-point line and 10-for-15 overall in the 100-82 victory over the defending champions. Beal and the Wizards have an outside chance of making the playoffs, but are considered a sleeper for this season. If they can get over some injuries, they could make some major noise in the Eastern Conference.

Player: Mike Napoli
Game: Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers

When a major pitching duel is happening, it's all about who can strike first. Mike Napoli was able to strike for the Red Sox when he hit a solo home run for Red Sox in the top of the seventh inning to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead which became the final score of Game Three. Napoli has been great this season for the Sox with great hit after great hit. The Red Sox might've only had just four hits in their win, but Napoli's hit is very important. Now they have a 2-1 lead guaranteeing the series going back to Boston.

Game: Germany vs. Sweden

The hat trick in Soccer is not an easy thing to do, but Andre Schürrle made it look relatively easy yesterday. Schürrle pulled off the hat trick (57', 66', 76') in Germany's 5-3 victory over Sweden. Sweden got off to a 2-0 lead to start the game, but Germany came back and put together an impressive run. Sweden led 2-1 at Halftime. Even more impressive, Schürrle scored all three of his goals in the second half to help Germany pull away.

Stephen Curry might get all of the fanfare and attention, but David Lee could be a big part of why the Warriors make the next step this season. Lee shot 12-for-16 from the field, while scoring 31 points. Lee also contributed 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the Warriors' 100-95 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The game took place in Beijing as a part of the NBA's efforts to expand the game.

Player: Matt Carpenter
Game: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Clutch hits erase all of the doubt and negative points for any player. Look at the case for Matt Carpenter. The Cardinals leadoff hitter struggled mightily in the NLDS series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and has continued to hit poorly in the NLCS. Carpenter is batting just .118 in the playoffs altogether, but he came up with a big RBI single in the top of the third inning to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in their 4-2 victory over the Dodgers. In the playoffs, teams are desperate for runs, and Carpenter was able to come through in the clutch.

Shoe: Under Armour Micro G® Anatomix Spawn PE's
Player: Stephen Curry
Game: Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Here's to hoping that the Under Armour Micro G® Anatomix Spawn can help Stephen Curry stay healthy this season. Curryhas dealt with ankle injuries throughout his career and is looking to build upon last season where he built his superstar profile through an amazing playoff run as well as a 54-point explosion against the Knicks. Curry had 24 points for the Warriors in their 100-95 win over the Lakers. Curry didn't shoot well (7-for-18), but that was just a bad night. Expect the explosiveness from Curry last year to re-occur once again this season.

Game: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

It's been a "holiday" of a playoffs run for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are now up 3-1 on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS and they owe a lot of their success to Matt Holliday. He's provided a solid presence including his performance tonight. In the Cardinals' 4-2 win, Holliday hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning to give the Cardinals a 3-0 win. Holliday also had another hit in the game to help the Cardinals inch closer to another World Series appearance.

Shoe: Nike Air Show Elite 2
Player: John Lackey
Game: Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers

The key to a good pitcher is the emotion that they show on the field. John Lackey always has that passion especially when he's being taken out of a game that he's pitching well in. Lackey gave up just four hits in 6.2 innings of work outdueling Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander in an amazing pitching matchup. He kept the Tigers hitters on edge despite not being heralded for this game. Lackey had eight strikeouts and just one walk to give the Red Sox a 2-1 series lead over the Dodgers.
