The Shoes That Won Last Night: John Wall Leads Washington Wizards to Win, Arron Afflalo Shines for Orlando Magic

College Basketball always offers a quick change of pace from the NBA. There are more upsets, wilder games, and players seemingly unknown who have big performances out of nowhere. Last night, Tyler Ennis dropped 28 points for the Syracuse Orange as they defeated the California Golden Bears 92-81. In other action, Ryan Boatright had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists as UConn won 76-66 over Loyola.

There were only four NBA games on the schedule, but there were still some great performances. John Wall and Nene both had 30-point performances for Washington as the Wizards managed to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers. Joe Johnson scored 21 points for the Brooklyn Nets as they escaped Toronto with a 102-100 victory over the Raptors. Take a look at the Shoes That Won Last Night.

UConn is off to a great start and they owe it to their diverse offensive attack. Teams never know who is going to show up and put on a great performance. Ryan Boatright has been a solid performer for UConn this season and he continued that with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. UConn managed to win 76-66 over Loyola as Boatright was penetrating on offense leading to 11 free throw attempts in the victory.

Game: Orlando Magic vs. Atlanta Hawks

If anything, this rookie season has been a learning experience for Victor Oladipo. Orlando is a developing team with many youthful assets and Oladipo is one of them. The Indiana University product is quietly improving and yesterday was a great example. Oladipo scored 18 points and 5 assists for the Magic as they defeated the Atlanta Hawks 109-92. Oladipo made a concerted effort to get his teammates involved, but of course he got his in Orlando's fifth win of the young NBA season.

Game: Baylor Bears vs. Dayton Flyers

Baylor's flying out of the gates this season as they have now reached a 6-0 record early on in the young college basketball season. The Bears managed to defeat Dayton 67-66 with many players getting involved in the action. Baylor had five players in double figures with Kenny Chery making some important contributions in the Crazy Light 3. The junior guard had 13 points and 4 assists for Baylor in the very close victory for the Bears.

Game: Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors

Kevin Garnett is getting up their in age, but he's still got just a little juice left in the tank to help the struggling Brooklyn Nets. KG has a solid midrange game and is the anchor to any good defensive squad. The Nets finally won a game after defeating the Toronto Raptors 102-100 with Garnett putting up 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the win. At this point, the Nets are struggling with a 4-10 record and they nearly blew a 15-point lead late in the game. Let's see what KG can do to get the Nets out of this rut.

Player: Taya Reimer
Game: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. DePaul Blue Demons

Taya Reimer did not have a good shooting night for Notre Dame going just 2-for-15. She did just about everything else right for the Fighting Irish in their 92-76 victory over DePaul. Reimer was able to put in work on the glass collecting 14 rebounds and she was impactful in the paint. Reimer found away to get to the free throw line 14 times and she had 2 blocks as well. Reimer intimidated everyone in the paint and made a great impact off the bench as Notre Dame managed to improve their record to 5-0.

Arron Afflalo has taken a leadership position with the Orlando Magic and in many games he has become the top option for the Orlando Magic. Afflalo and his Magic managed to pull off a major 109-92 upset of the Atlanta Hawks with 26 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals in the victory. The UCLA product was hot from the perimeter with 4 triples energizing the Magic as they pulled away in the third quarter of the game with 36 points.

With Deron Williams and Brook Lipez dealing with injuries, the Nets rely on Joe Johnson tog et their offense going. Johnson's unique ability to handle the ball, shoot, and penetrate is awfully valuable. He made things happen for the Nets as they managed to hold on in their 102-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Johnson was able to score 21 points, and contribute 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in Brooklyn's victory while wearing the Jordan Aero Mania.

Ennis scored in many different ways as he made all 8 of his free throw attempts, and knocked down 2 triples as well to help Syracuse advance to the title game in the Maui Invitational.

Nene is the glue that keeps the Washington Wizards offense together. He adds a veteran presence to the team and can muscle any opponent under the basket. Nene had 30 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals as Washington managed to win 116-111 over the Los Angeles Lakers. Nene was practically wrestling with Pau Gasol in the paint for the entire game, but found a way to succeed and have a career-high in scoring on the night.

John Wall is looking like a million bucks or more like 80 million bucks with the way he's playing right now. Wall had his third consecutive 30 point game as the Wizards were able to outlast the Los Angeles Lakers 116-111. Wall was all over the court with 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals as Washington managed to find a way to lead his team to their fourth win in five tries. Wall will definitely need to pull off a few 30-point games and a few dougies after the Wizards lost Bradley Beal to a leg injury.
