We had a Thursday Night in the NBA with three games on the schedule. The Miami Heat defeated the Los Angeles Clipeprs 102-97 behind a masterful 29 points from Dwyane Wade as well as 18 supportive points from LeBron James. Ty Lawson banked in a clutch three-pointer and scored 23 points to lead Denver to their first win of the season. Steve Blake spoiled Dwight Howard's first game against his former team when he hit a three-pointer with 1.3 seconds left to give the Lakers a 99-98 win.

NFL Thursday Night Action was also on the schedule as the Minnesota Vikings were able to dispose of the Washington Redskins 34-27. Adrian Peterson had two rushing touchdowns in the victory in a matchup of two pretty bad teams. There was also some College Football action as well last night. Bryce Petty had 5 total touchdowns as Baylor routed Oklahoma 41-12. These are The Shoes That Won Last Night.

Player: Adrian Peterson
Game: Minnesota Vikings vs. Washington Redskins

Consistency has been a problem for the Minnesota Vikings this season. They lack consistent options beyond Adrian Peterson and have been dealing with multiple injuries. The Vikings were able to win a topsy-turvy contest against the Washington Redskins. After being down by 10 at halftime, the Vikings were able to get it together and win 34-27. Peterson was crucial to the win with 75 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. The second rushing touchdown ended up giving the Vikings the lead for good late in the third quarter.

Mamadou Danso contributed to the victory with a goal at the 47' mark. Danso's header gave the Timbers a 3-0 victory and Seattle responded by scoring 2 goals, but was unable to complete the total comeback giving Portland the victory.

Player: John Carlson
Game: Minnesota Vikings vs. Washington Redskins

The tight end position is always important because of the blocking ability as well as the tight end's ability to be a safety valve for the quarterback. John Carlson had a great game for Minnesota in their 34-27 victory over the Washington Redskins. Carlson had 7 receptions, 98 yards and 1 touchdown catch in the victory. Karlson's touchdown catch came early in the third quarter, as it pulled the Vikings within 6 points of making a comeback. It was an interesting performance by the tight end as him and quarterback Christian Ponder built good chemistry and established a good connection throughout the game.

Shoe: Nike Kobe System 8 PE
Player: Steve Blake
Game: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets

We guess that Steve Blake wearing the Nike Kobe 8 System must've rubbed some of the clutch from Kobe onto Blake. Blake had a solid game with 14 points while knocking down 4 triples in Los Angeles' win over the Rockets 99-98. One of the threes he hit came with 1.3 seconds left giving the Lakers a one point lead which they would end up keeping. Maybe all the Lakers should wear the Kobe 8 System to give them that clutch gene ghost of Kobe and start knocking down ridiculous shots.

Player: Tyler Gaffney
Game: Stanford Cardinals vs. Oregon Ducks

Tyler Gaffney simply put in work last night in a heavy duty kind of way. Gaffney rushed an astounding 45 times in Stanford's 26-20 victory over Oregon. Gaffney had 157 total rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown int he victory. That's some pretty special stuff and is a heavy responsibility as the Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan threw only 13 times. Gaffney might need the next few weeks off after that crazy offensive load he carried.

Shoe: Air Jordan 9 PE
Player: Nate Robinson
Game: Denver Nuggets vs. Atlanta Hawks

It's another day and another pair of Jordan's worn by Nate Robinson. Lil' Nate is trying to add some offensive punch to the Nuggets bench and he did the job last night. The Nuggets won a close game against the Atlanta Hawks 109-107 and Robinson contributed 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in the victory. Nate's not going to have the ridiculous moments he had in Chicago because he will most likely receive less playing time, but we're hoping we get a little more Nate that features his offensive outbursts.

Shoe: Nike Zoom Soldier VI PE
Player: Ty Lawson
Game: Denver Nuggets vs. Atlanta Hawks

Ty Lawson had one of the biggest shots of the NBA night when he banked in a 27-foot 3-pointer. Lawson's clutch shot capped a great night as Lawson finished with 23 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds in Denver's first win of the season. Lawson is the key to the Nuggets having a good season and with so much turnover with the roster and coaching staff, it will take time for Lawson and the Nuggets to gel and figure out their roles. On this night, Lawson found a way to will the Nuggets to a victory when they absolutely needed it the most. Those strapless Zoom Soldier VI's must've done the trick.

Shoe: Nike LeBron X PE
Player: LeBron James
Game: Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Clippers

The King is not always going to be on the top of his game, but he will do everything it takes for his team to get a win. LeBron James had 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Heat as they managed to hold off the Los Angeles Clippers 102-97. James made a few nice plays offensively, but overall made a few nice passes and played solid defense throughout the night in Miami's win.

Shoe: Li Ning Way of Wade 2 PE
Player: Dwyane Wade
Game: Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Dwyane Wade had a throwback night in Miami's five-point victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Wade was getting into the paint and wreaking havoc. Wade finished the game with 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists. He was hitting ridiculous shots from stepback jumpers to fadeaways. Wade even had a nice dunk that made us wonder of he turned back the hands of time. If Wade plays more like this, the Heat will definitely be ready to compete for that three-peat this season.

Player: Bryce Petty
Game: Baylor Bears vs. Oklahoma Sooners

Did anyone have a better night than Bryce Petty? The Baylor quarterback contributed 5 total touchdowns to his team's cause as the Bears ran away with a 41-12 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. Petty threw 3 touchdown passes for 204 passing yards in a solid offensive attack. Petty was also able to rush for 45 yards and 2 touchdowns making light work of Oklahoma. When you have 5 touchdowns in a game you deserve a game ball, a raise, or at least a free meal swipe at the dining commons.
