Unless you've somehow avoided every major media outlet over the last two weeks, chances are you heard about the sanctions that came down against Donald Sterling from the NBA following his racist remarks. In the wake of Sterling's lifetime ban and $2.5 million fine, many top shelf celebrities have stepped up with a potential offer to purchase the Clippers. Everyone from Magic Johnson, to Oprah, to Floyd Mayweather have all expressed interest in purchasing the LA franchise, and today, major footwear brand, Skechers placed it's name in the ring of potential buyers.

Skechers USA Inc publicly came out and stated they would explore the opportunity to purchase a stake in the Clippers once the NBA and the 29 other owner's force Sterling to sell. The sport shoe brand is reportedly working with a group of financial experts and investors to look into the potential purchase.

With a host of A-list celebrities, and some of the most successful investors in the world all looking into purchasing the Clippers, Skechers may just be testing the waters to see if the opportunity is really there. Having a sneaker brand own a NBA team would be an interesting precedent, but honestly, a company who focuses more on basketball shoes would most likely be a better fit.

Let us know what you think of Skechers looking into buying the Clips, and who you would like to see as the potential new owner @SneakerReport.
