SPOTTED: Byron Mullens Lifts Bobcats Out of a Slump in the Nike Hyperdunk 2012

Not so long ago, the artist formerly known as B.J. Mullens was a national need on the recruiting scene. Every college wanted the 7-footer with great footwork, soft hands and unusual athleticism. Fast forward to 2012 and it’s almost easy to forget just how good he could be because of his lackluster entry to the NBA. Mullens played a combined 26 games and scored a combined 39 points in his first two seasons. Last night, with his team on a seven game skid, went off for 25 points, 18 rebounds and four assists in a 94-91 home win against the Celtics.

Playing in the Nike Hyperdunk 2012, Mullens put the Bobcats on his broad shoulders and hit shots from both the post and the perimeter (4-for-5 from the 3-point line).  With versatility on full display, Mullens utilized both the lunarlon cushioning while landing from jumpers and rebounds, and the FlyWire upper’s lightweight construction to make swift moves on defenders.
