SPOTTED: Dion Waiters Drops Career High 33 in the Zoom Kobe VII

Father time is undefeated versus pro athletes (everyone, really). What’s the biggest indicator that the end is near if you’re the NBA’s top dog? The youngin’s around the league that idolized you growing up start to eat — in your signature shoes. It happend to Michael Jordan and now it’s Kobe Bryant’s turn. Sure, the Kobe 8 System is still one of Nike’s newest innovations, but guys in the league are going back in the catalogue and balling in the V’s. It has to be a sort of on court this is your life moment for the Mamba.

Dion Waiters, who’s teammate Kyrie took on Kobe and everyone else at Olympic trials, put up his career high 33 points and dished five assists last night in a 124-118 loss at Sacramento. Thirty-three and five? Looks like the Kobe VII’s, with their super strong FlyWire, triangular patterned outsole and “attack fast” inserts with Zoom Units in the heel and forefoot, aren’t just for one predator on the court anymore.
