You’ve heard of Karlie Kloss. No? Karlie’s Kookies? This woman? Still no? Well Nike has nabbed her (for an unnamed sum) to help introduce it’s women’s apparel collection for Fall 2014, showing off the latest in cutting-edge technology and style from the swoosh brand.
As with all Nike designs, the 2014 women’s fall collection is rooted in athlete insights and scientific data. Designers, developers and researchers listen to and study the female athlete to get a better idea of how she moves and behaves. For example, the Nike Pro Hypercool Long-sleeve Top utilizes a sweat map provided by the Nike Explore Team Research Lab to engineer increased ventilation in key sweat zones.
“We focus on eliminating distractions and creating apparel that moves with the body,” says Nike Women’s Training Apparel Design Director Jamie Lee. “The only thing the female athlete should have to worry about is her form, not the fit of her apparel.”
Nike also uses ultra-soft and lightweight Dri-FIT fabric, which can be found in all of the Swoosh’s train gin and running gear, to provide stretch and cooling where the female athlete needs it the most. This fabric is then matched with a color from Nike’s color library. If a color doesn’t exist, then Nike, always not he edge of creativity, simply creates it, tests it and applies it to it’s performance fabrics.
