adidas beat Nike to the punch in crafting the first-ever soccer boot to feature a knitted upper from head-to-toe and the move seems to be paying off.

Despite its hefty price tag of $299.99, the adidas Samba Primeknit sold out within minutes of its U.S. release date this morning. Weighing in at just 5.8 ounces, the boot provides a unique second-skin fit while retaining the strength of a conventional soccer cleat. Constructed from a single knitted layer, the Primeknit uses just one yarn to knit the entire upper.

You may remember adidas' Primeknit technology first hitting the States earlier this month in the form of the adidas Prime Boost running shoe. Now that the high-in-demand technology has hit the soccer world there's no telling where the future of the soccer boot will go. Guess it's your move Nike.
