As the first shoe crafted with computerized knitting technology, some might say that the Nike Sock Dart was ahead of its time when it was released in 2004. After all, this is the shoe considered to be the forerunner to Flyknit technology.

Now, Nike Lab is partnering up with Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara and his Fragment imprint to bring a modern reimagining to the innovative sneaker. The Nike Sock Dart by Fragment takes the laceless shoe and its woven upper and adds a transparent silicone lockdown strap where the laces are supposed to be.

"The first time I saw the Sock Dart—it wasn't even a shoe," Fujiwara said. "Tinker showed me a knit, like a sock, and explained they were going to put an outsole on it.”
