Last week, Sneaker Report previewed one of the latest baseball cleats to hit the market, the adidas adiZero 5-Tool 2.0. Today, we get a look at yet another footwear release from adidas Baseball, the adiZero 5-Tool 2.5.

Where the 2.0 features a low-cut design, the 2.5 comes in a mid-top profile for more protection and support around the ankles. Yet, it’s almost as lightweight as the 2.0. In fact, at just 10.6 ounces, the adizero 5-Tool 2.5 is one of the lightest mid-cut metal cleats on the diamond. The two cleats don’t share a whole lot of similarities in the way of design, but underneath the hood, the 2.5 features the same SprintFrame chassis and SprintWeb upper seen in the 2.0. The 2.5 also features a similar ProTrax 5x3 metal cleat configuration for linear and rotational traction.

Inside the cleat, a molded PU sockliner helps minimize cleat pressure, and keeps the foot from slipping. A hook-and-loop strap on the collar lets players customize the fit, and also helps keep dirt out. Surprisingly enough, despite the added material, the 2.5 is in the same price range as the 2.0—which means you get even more bang for the buck.
