After the St. Louis Cardinals advanced past the Los Angeles Dodgers last night, the Boston Red Sox have now taken the AL with a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers in Game 6. The biggest story on the diamond was undoubtedly Boston right fielder Shane Victorino’s 7th-inning Grand Slam, which put the lead out of reach for Detroit. On the college gridiron, the day’s two biggest games were an ACC battle with No. 5 Florida State taking on No. 3 Clemson and No. 22 Florida meeting No. 14 Missouri to represent the SEC. Florida State pulled out a decisive 51-14 win, which will certainly shake things up on next week’s Top 25 poll. From Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri, the Tigers downed Florida 36-17 thanks to strong rushing from Henry Josey.
