As the World Cup festivities wind down in Brazil, things are just beginning to heat up here at home. The MLB All-Star Summer Events are officially underway, with last night's newly formatted Gillette Home Run Derby and the 85th All Star-Game tonight. The Home Run Derby delivered plenty of pine-crushing power, but unfortunately, some of the league’s best players decided to opt out of the fun. Nonetheless, the league’s best talent will take the diamond tonight, and you’ll find all their cleats here as we count down What the 10 Best MLB Players are Wearing this Season.

No. 10 – Chase Utley

Cleats: adidas Energy Boost Icon
Position:
Second base

Although he’s had a slow start this season, 6-time All-Star Chase Utley is still one of the best second basemen in the game today. This year, he’s laced in the springy adidas Energy Boost Icon cleats, the first adidas baseball model to feature Boost technology.

No. 9 – Giancarlo Stanton

Cleats: Nike Air Huarache Pro Mid Metal

Giancarlo Stanton is one of the brightest young stars in the MLB today, and on Tuesday he’ll play in his second All-Star Game as a designated hitter for the National League. With 21 homers and 63 RBIs already this season, he’s sure to cause some headaches when he steps into the box in the Air Huarache Pro Mid.

No. 8 – Felix Hernandez

Cleats: Nike Air Huarache 2KFresh
Position:
Pitcher

Although many Swoosh-endorsed sluggers have moved onto the Huarache Pro, Seattle’s starting pitcher Felix Hernandez prefers the Air Huarache 2KFresh. Released in 2012, these form-fitting cleats provide just the right amount of support and cushion on the mound for this AL starter.

Clayton Kershaw

No. 7 – Clayton Kershaw

Cleats: Exclusive Under Armour
Position:
Pitcher

Is Clayton Kershaw on the hottest run ever? In his last 45 innings on the mound, Kershaw has allowed just one run, and he’s got the best ERA in the league at 1.78. Unfortunately for fans, tracking down his cleats is just about as difficult as getting a hit off on him, as his exclusive UA cleats have never been available to the public.

Adam Wainwright

No. 6 – Adam Wainwright

Cleats: Mizuno Advanced Swagger
Position
: Pitcher

Although Clayton Kershaw has been on fire lately, we’ve got to give the nod to Adam Wainwright. With 12 wins under his belt and just 1.83 ERA, Wainwright’s the man to count on Tuesday night, and he’ll get it done in the Mizuno Advanced Swagger.

Andrew McCutchen

No. 5 – Andrew McCutchen

Cleats: Nike Swingman MVP 2
Position: Center fielder

Consistency. That’s what you get with Pittsburgh’s Andrew McCutchen, whose .324 batting average is among the league’s best. This is the fourth year in a row McCutchen has been selected as an All-Star, but it’ll be the first start of his career, and he’ll be in the Nike Swingman MVP 2 for the big moment.

No. 4 – Troy Tulowitzki

Cleats: Nike Air Huarache Pro Mid Metal
Position: Shortstop

Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki will be pulling double-duty this All-Star break as the captain of the NL’s Home Run Derby team as well as starting at shortstop. The 4-time All-Star, who’s perhaps best known for being one of the only players in history to pull off an unassisted triple play, wears the Air Huarache Pro and currently holds the best batting average in the league at .345.

No. 3 - Nelson Cruz

Cleats: Nike Air Huarache Pro Mid Metal
Position:
Designated hitter

In 2013, Nelson Cruz, then a member of the Texas Rangers, was suspended for 50 games due to his involvement in a PED scandal. In February, Cruz signed with the Baltimore Orioles, and he’s been on the road to redemption ever since. He currently leads the league in home runs (28) and RBIs (74), and he’s been doing it all in the Huarache Pro.

9 All-Star selections, 5 Silver Slugger Awards, the first batting Triple Crown since 1967, 2000 hits at the age of 30. There’s not much Miggy Cabrera hasn’t done in the pros, and on Tuesday night, he’ll start in his second straight All-Star Game while wearing the New Balance 3000. We can’t wait to see what colorway he pulls out for the special event.

Mike Trout

No. 1 – Mike Trout

Cleats: Nike Lunar Vapor Trout
Position:
Center field

We don’t have to tell you why Mike Trout is the best player in the league, because the Swoosh has already done all of the talking for us. With the recently-unveiled Nike Lunar Vapor Trout, he becomes the first MLB player to have his own signature cleat with Nike since “The Kid” Ken Griffey , Jr. Boasting a chunky Lunarlon midsole and a speedy design, the Lunar Vapor Trout is in a class of its own, much like the 3-time All-Star himself.
