Drawing inspiration from iconic running and court silhouettes, Nike rolls out three new golf footwear options perfect for use both on, and off the course.
The Lunar Waverly and Lunar Mont Royal join Nike’s Versatility footwear family, by incorporating modern running tech features into functional golf shoes. Since debuting the Integrated Traction technology in footwear in 2010, Nike golf has constantly been improving on tread of the golf shoes, but now they’ve incorporated Lunarlon foam midsole and the iconic waffle sole for superior comfort and grip no matter if your on the course or not.
The Lunar Waverly was designed using pressure-mapping analysis to figure out how the foot moves during the swing, and build a shoe that supports the movement. Nike used Dynamic Flywire for additional support, and for the first time ever, incorporated a cork sockliner that is extremely lightweight and comfortable.
The Lunar Mont Royal takes from the iconic Nike Montreal running shoe, and updates it with a color blocking design and running-inspired silhouette. Nike used Lunarlon foam in the heel and midsole, and used a specialized waffle tread outsole to maintain traction throughout the swing.
The Nike Lunar Clayton comes in higher quality material, featuring premium leather in a Deep Burgundy look. The shoe is a dressier option and offers style choices for both on and off the course without sacrificing performance.
“The Lunar Waverly and Lunar Mont Royal were inspired by classic Nike footwear styles, and we adapted those designs for athletes who want a golf shoe with versatile appeal,” says Carl Madore, Nike Golf Innovation Design Lead. “These shoes have incredible performance technology that are great for playing 18 holes or wearing before or after the round, too. You can hit balls at the driving range on your lunch break without ever changing your shoes. These styles are modeled after some of Nike’s first shoes but modernized to perform specifically for golf.”
The Nike Lunar Waverly, and the Lunar Mont Royal will be available July 1 for a suggested retail of $140, and $100 respectively. The Nike Lunar Clayton will also be available July 1, but due to it’s higher quality materials it’ll retail for $250.
