It’s said that the best steal and don’t copy, but does that apply to performance footwear under the same umbrella? Likely, because adidas has taken that philosophy to create a little brother of its Crazyquick basketball model (albeit a more sturdy, more traditional little brother).

In the adidas Payoff, the brand with the three stripes have taken down the specs of the actual Crazyquick basketball shoe and have adapted a more traditional platform that eschews the predecessor’s segmentation for a more united approach to traction, which should give players needing more support and who appreciate a more classic-feeling basketball shoe some joy.

The midsole is also tweaked in the Payoff, as it’s wide, somewhat thick, and likely sourced from adidas’ high-grade EVA that has long become a brand standard for adidas Basketball. With a full synthetic upper, the Payoff won’t stretch or degrade and likely can hold you for an entire season of basketball for your league of choice – recreational or maybe even D-1 if you’re that legit on the court.

Even better, if you need to find out how well you’re doing against competition or track your stamina, the Payoff (available now) is miCoach functional, so you can get the very most out of the shoe and yourself.
