For real, it happened. According to HUH magazine, the original prototype of the 1970s running model that went onto influence the future of performance footwear just sold for $1,500.
Who bought it? Jordan Geller of the ShoeZeum museum in Las Vegas will add it to his 2,500 other pairs of Nikes.
"This shoe is really special, not because Drake or Kanye wore it, but because Bill Bowerman made this from his hands. I almost want to go back to his house, with a comb and toothbrush, and go through his back yard myself." Obviously Geller is alluding to the story that Bowerman first fashioned the Waffle sole in his kitchen using a waffle iron before discarding it in his backyard.
